• Never feed your new Bordeaux puppy any brand of puppy
food.  Bordeaux's should be on an excellent quality adult
food.  They have large hip sockets and any excessive
growth can cause hip & elbow dysplasia.

  • Excessive calcium goes right to a dogues growth plates.
Be very careful about using cheese as training treats.  Once
in a while, cheese is OK.

  • NEVER allow your Bordeaux to jump from high places such
as pick up truck beds.  It can cause joint issues.

  • Same goes for jumping from the ground to retrieve a stick or
    a ball held high.

  • Obedience training is also highly recommended as well as
    crate training for house breaking.

  • Do not allow your young Bordeaux to play rough with a
larger dog.  This can also harm joints.
BORDEAUX DO'S AND DON'TS
If the breeder you are looking to purchase a puppy from does not
offer a contract in writing, my advice would be to not purchase a
puppy from them.  I send all my pups home with a contract and a
written guarantee.  I also firmly believe in a breeder having the
puppies vet checked before they go to their new homes.  It's not
very expensive and it's worth the time and money to know your
puppy is healthy when they go home.

NO REPUTABLE BREEDER WOULD EVER SELL THEIR
PUPPIES TO A PET STORE.  IF YOU SEE A
DOGUE IN A
PET STORE, ALTHOUGH THE PUP IS PROBABLY
ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE, THESE PUPS ARE MORE THAN
LIKELY FROM A PUPPY MILL.  THE BREEDER WHO SOLD
THIS PUP TO A PET STORE IS AN UNETHICAL BREEDER,
AND NOT STRIVING TO PRODUCE A QUALITY PUP.
PUPPY MILL PUPS ARE USUALLY NOT HEALTHY AND HAVE
AN ABUNDANCE OF HEALTH PROBLEMS, INCLUDING BUT
NOT LIMITED TO SEVERE HIP DYSPLASIA, CANCERS,
DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS, EYE PROBLEMS, CARDIAC AND
PULMONARY ISSUES AS WELL AS SKIN ISSUES.
