| Here are a couple of breeders we feel buyer beware. We purchased a dogue from these people and that 10 week old female was one of the most aggressive pups we had ever seen. She was not only aggressive to my 6 year old daughter, she was extremely aggressive towards my adult female Katie. When this puppy arrived, she also had a severe UTI that the breeders would not stand behind. We found the UTI 11 hours after picking her up off the plane when she had extreme difficulty urinating and the dog had a high concentration of blood in her urine upon examination. There was no way in less than a 24 hour period that this puppy contracted this UTI at my home, and that was a statement from a veterinarian. The breeder would not offer to cover the cost of treatment. The dogue did not have just a UTI, she had an extremely large concentration of E-Coli bacteria in her urethra. The only way to contract that would be in a dirty kennel. I asked to send her back the night I picked her up for major aggression issues, and was refused. I was told I had to drive to Syracuse, NY (5 hour trip 1 way for me) to meet someone who would drive her to PA. I wanted to send her back on a plane, but Ms. Gordon refused. Beware of: www.bighousebordeauxs.com and an affiliate who's kennel name is Premier Cru. Bonnie Gordon owns Big House and David Waskewicz owns Premier Cru. We don't want to see anyone else get taken the way we did. Red Legends Bordeaux in Canada is another breeder to be wary of. I purchased a show quality puppy from her for $3300. The dog has a level 2 heart murmur and is structurely incorrect. She was a sweet dogue, but I wouldn't breed her. Red Legends had me sell her and then proceeded to use that money toward another debt she owed me for, said she was going to replace her, and never did. Plus she still has a $500 deposit from me...so I am out $3800. This entire litter unfortunately was not quality. She plays many games and her "kennel" is definitely not what she claims it is. It's a 2 car garage with 20 plus crates lined up...a sad situation. |
| WORDS TO THE WISE If the breeder you are looking to purchase a puppy from does not offer a contract in writing, my advice would be to not purchase a puppy from them. I send all my pups home with a contract and a 2 year written guarantee. Before placing a deposit on my puppies, I send you the contract to review and sign before I accept a deposit from you. I also firmly believe in a breeder having the puppies vet checked before they go to their new homes. It's not very expensive and it's worth the time and money to know your puppy is healthy when they go home. Also, if the breeder does not supply you with AKC or FCI paperwork, I would also not purchase a puppy. Sometimes, and it happens more often than not, the dogue was purchased without papers or with limited registration because it was sold as a pet puppy and was never meant to be bred. They get around this by selling puppies from a different registry like UKC or FIC or APRI. The dog may have had faults that limited it from breeding or may other scenarios. If you want a quality bordeaux, FCI and AKC registration are really what you want to look for. If you are purchasing from a Canadian breeder, they have CFC and CKC. Overseas dogues are FCI. Please don't confuse FCI with FIC. FIC is not an AKC recognizable registry and is a registration I would steer clear from. |
